About SCCLS

THE ST. CLAIR COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM

Serving St. Clair County for more than 100 years.

SCCLS, founded in 1917, was the first county library system in the state of Michigan and one of the earliest in the United States.

Currently, SCCLS has 11 branch locations spread across St. Clair County and serves a population of nearly 160,000. One library card gives patrons access to resources at all locations including the library's website.

SCCLS Board of Trustees

SCCLS is governed by a five-member Library Board of Trustees, appointed by the St. Clair County Board of Commissioners.

The Library Board is responsible for policy making, employing a Library Director to administer operations, adopting an annual budget, and planning for the Library's growth.
